I love weddings because it’s one of the sweetest gift to witness a man and
woman coming together as one in Christ. My summers are always filled with
beautiful weddings, so I thought why not do a wedding guest lookbook for you
guys! I decided to do five different looks for summer weddings. I will also
include some tips and do's and don’ts. So let's get stated!!!
OUTFIT ONE: LITTLE BLACK DRESS
Outfit number one is the classic little black dress. If all
else fails, a little black dress will be perfect for any wedding. I love
wearing black because it is flattering on everyone and always looks
sophisticated. I actually bought this dress at Goodwill, but it originally was
from Jessica Simpson’s clothing line. The reason I bought this dress was
because I loved the strong shoulder look with the shoulder pads and
embellishments, but the quality of the fabric is also really nice. I also like
how mature the dress makes me look with the wrapped top and tulip wrapped
bottom. I finished off the look with a plain black clutch from Goodwill and
black suede wedges from Kohl's. Do wear black
because it’s always safe and don't ever wear all white. Repeat don't wear an
all white outfit!!! You don't want to take the attention away from the bride
and have everyone glare at you right.
OUTFIT TWO: BOYISH BALLERINA
Outfit number two mixes masculine and feminine
pieces, but still looks put together. The pink tulle with the tailored vest
makes a perfect mix of masculinity and femininity. All the items (except the
shoes) I bought from Goodwill, but the vest and dress are both originally from
Target. As you might be able to tell, I'm a huge thrifter and love shopping at
Goodwill. I remember seeing the black vest at Target on sale for $13 and really
wanted to get it, but decided not to. Then a week or so later, I go to Goodwill
and find it not only in black, but also in white for $5 each, which is such a
steal. I usually get a lot of compliments when I wear my vest because even
though it looks boxy and business like, it has deep armholes that make it a lot
more casual. Also for this outfit, if you wanted to ditch the wedges for a pair of
flat black lace-up oxfords would be very cute. Do mix and match masculine and
feminine pieces.
OUTFIT THREE: ON EDGE
Outfit three mixes girly with edgy. Maxi skirts are great pieces to dress up and this one I actually made from a
dress I bought from Goodwill. I loved the color and material of the dress, but
unfortunately it was like six sizes too big, so I decided to chop off the top
and make an elastic waistband skirt. Maxi skirts are also great if you wanted
to have the illusion of lengthen legs. My leather jacket I bought on an Asian
wholesale website. Depending on where you live, a leather jacket might be too
hot for a summer wedding, but it will look really chic just hanging on your
shoulders like how I wore it. I finished the outfit with a plain white tank,
skinny black waist belt, a black clutch, and black heels. Although, I like a
lot of different fashion styles my favorite style has to be the edgy look. I
love the black leather jacket and maxi skirt combo for any formal event.
OUTFIT FOUR: MODERN GREEK
Outfit four I call “Modern Greek” because of the classic
Greek doric maxi dress silhouette. This look is definitely the most effortless,
but also the most elegant. Maxi dresses are the easiest to style because all
you need are a pair of heels and a statement necklace. I love maxi dresses not
only because they are effortless, but also slim and elongate te figure. I
bought this maxi dress from none other than Goodwill and my necklace was a diy.
If you are running late and need to find something easy to wear a maxi dress is
probably the best choice.
OUTFIT FIVE: ABSTRACT BORDERS
The last outfit is a
little more daring because of the mix and match patterns, but I love the two
prints together and the simple silhouette with the modern front center zipper. I
bought this dress from Goodwill for $7 and I couldn’t resist buying it because
I have nothing like it in my wardrobe. When I got home I did some researching
and the retail price of this dress was over $100! This is probably one of the
best finds I got from Goodwill. Because the print is so bold I pair the look
with a plain black clutch and simple black heels. I could also see this outfit
paired with cobalt blue heels and accessories. Don’t be afraid to mix and match
prints and colors because you never know if things look good together until you
experiment.
